Trainer Keeps Faith in Lightly Raced Mare despite Injuries

INVERELL trainer Theresa Lennon has put past frustrations behind her with mare Dance Chelle and is now trying to contain her excitement ahead of the Grafton race meeting tomorrow.

The five-year-old will race for just the fourth time (3:1-1-1) and is coming off a tough breakthrough win at the track on September 5.

"She pulled up well from her last start and she's going nicely heading into this race," Lennon said.

"She worked on Saturday and was good so I think she'll go all right on Thursday."

Dance Chelle had two encouraging runs in January 2014 before spending 83 weeks away from the races after falling in a float and also sustaining injuries from numerous minor accidents.

"She needed time," Lennon said.

"She seemed to trip over every rock in the paddock and was hurting herself but always minor."

On her return she won the hard way, making a move that left her three and four wide without cover from the 650m before powering down the straight to score by three-quarters of a length from Falling Angels. …
