ElringKlinger Boss to Chair EEF's Skills Group

ELRINGKLINGER (GB) managing director Ian Malcolm is the new chair of EEF's North East Skills Group.

Mr Malcolm takes the helm from former Siemens HR director Mike Jones who has chaired the group since its inception five years ago.

The group aims to tackle skills shortages facing manufacturers and engineers in the North East.

Having brought the Primary Engineer Programme to the North East to work with more 90 primary schools, Mr Malcolm will work closely with group members such as British Engines, Sevcon, and Caterpillar to steer the skills agenda in the region.

Liz Mayes, North East region director at EEF, said: "We're immensely grateful for Mike Jones' previous support and vision in getting this group up and running and we're delighted that Ian will now be taking this vital work forward.

"His experience and commitment to skills in the region will allow us to start joining up all the good work going on within the manufacturing community. …
