Country Star Quality; Former Junior Jaca Queen Adds Sash to Collection

IF THERE is a hereditary gene for success on the stage, it would seem the Smidt family has it.

Three young members of the Grafton family entered the Grafton leg of the Miss Country Girl Australia tour at the weekend, and all of them walked away with first places in their categories.

Fifteen-year-old Claire Smidt, who two years ago was crowned Junior Jacaranda Queen, added another sash to her collection after winning the senior model category.

Prior to the judging, the competitors attended a modelling workshop on Saturday, to help them better understand the industry and opportunities within it.

Proud mum Kathrine Smidt said it was explained on the day that girls of all shapes, sizes and looks could be successful in the modelling world.

"You don't have to be tall and skinny because there's such a massive range of opportunities not just high fashion," she said.
