GARDENING guru Costa Georgiadis hardly took a breath as he gave Kawungan State School students life-long lessons in the importance of gardening and eating healthy yesterday.

The school's "green thumb group", made up of children from special education students through to advanced learners, have been passionately tending the school's vegetable and flower garden for the past four months.

Yesterday, as part of a special visit organised by Kawungan teacher Miriam Bauman, ABC's Gardening Australia host Costa Georgiadis put on his trade-mark overalls and gave students a lesson on how delicious a garden can be - planting seeds provided as part of the APN free seed giveaway.

Costa said he loved teaching the kids how to grow and eat healthy, organic food, and it was vital to get kids enthusiastic about gardening to help build relationships between kids and their food.
