BLYTH are staying on the shoulders of the leaders in Durham and Northumberland Two after a promising start to the new season.

They were 42-3 winners at home to Houghton on Saturday, kicking on from a 22-3 half-time lead.

The result leaves them fourth in the table behind Hartlepool, Barnard Castle and Redcar, this weekend's schedule seeing them visit the side immediately below them - Sunderland. In Division Three South Shields' perfect start to the campaign came to a grinding halt at fellow unbeaten side Newton Aycliffe.

Shields, re-named from South Tyneside College this year, fell 55-0, a result which drops them to third.

Seghill's 43-15 defeat at Sedge-field allows their victors to sneak into second, Jarrovians propping up the standings following their 50-10 reverse at West Hartlepool TDSOB.

Durham City have gone clear at the top of Division One as a 34-20 win at Medicals made it a perfect 20 points from 20. …
