Simonelli Wins Bronze; Warwick Rider Third in National Masters

CYCLING: Warwick cyclist Tony Simonelli has found a new gear later in life and is taking out medals up and down the coast in masters cycling.

Simonelli won a bronze last weekend at the 2015 Cycling Australia Masters Road National Championships at Murwillumbah, NSW.

He won the bronze medal in the individual time trials on Friday with a time of 28:30.37 over the 20km course.

Simonelli missed out on silver by just 5.4 seconds behind Victorian rider Carmine Soriano.

John Cain, also from Victoria, took out the gold medal with a time of 27:17:67.

After winning the criterium and taking out silver in the time trials at the national championships last year, Simonelli said he felt under the pressure this year.

"I had a bit of a purple patch last year and the beginning of this year," Simonelli said.

"I found my way back and was happy with the performance."Having won the criterium last year I definitely felt like I was under pressure to perform this time around. …
