DESPERATE times call for desperate measures as Waves Falcons send out an SOS to former players, current players and anyone with a remote interest in playing rugby union.

With only eight of their 12 registered players available Falcons president Nathan Freeman said he may have to forfeit tonight's game against Isis Crushers in the Spring Cup.

"I have emailed Bundaberg rugby union clubs to see if they can support us with any excess players," he said.

"We're obviously in a position where we may not field a team.

"We have 12 registered players but four are either injured or away."

Freeman said despite the intense, rivalry between all the clubs, the other clubs had been nothing but supportive.

"It's that old saying of 'what happens on the field stays on the field'," he said.

Freeman said the club had recruited hard but had not had the interest from the public.

The club has been posting on its Facebook page regularly in the lead-up to the season opener with a call out to players past and present to join. …
