Marks Making Injury Progress; Bigger Practice Role for Jags' DT, Who Still May Be a Week or Two Away

Like tight end Julius Thomas, Jaguars defensive tackle Sen'Derrick Marks doesn't sound like he will make his season debut Sunday at Tampa Bay, but he continues to progress.

Marks tore his anterior cruciate ligament last Dec. 28 and advanced this week to one-on-one drills for the first time.

"I think I've looked good when I've gone home and watched the film and then watched it with the coaches and the training staff," Marks said after practice Thursday.

Marks has been listed as "limited," for nine practices since first participating Sept. 16.

Since late in the preseason, an in-house target date for Marks has been Week 6 against Houston or Week 7 against Buffalo.

Marks said it has been "great" to go against offensive linemen instead of a "trainer who is probably 150 pounds."

"The best thing about it has been mentally," he said. "I had to get over a couple of humps as far as the different feeling in my leg. …
