Your new dance partner, TV presenter Katie Derham, has called you her guilty pleasure. How did you feel when you first heard that? THAT'S a lovely reaction. It's much better than 'Oh, gawd, I wanted the other one'.

You've partnered some colourful characters in the past, Ann Widdecombe, Nancy Dell'Olio, Jerry Hall and Judy Murray, but are you disappointed that you have never won the show? I ALWAYS feel like a winner. People love the show and remember my partners like Ann Widdecombe and Judy. It's enormous fun for me. It's better than that proper dance malarkey.

Anton |new dance Katie "Everyone I have danced with has been so great. It's called entertainment and it should be entertaining." If I hadn't been paired with Ann Widdecombe, if I had danced with a "good one" like Kara Tointon who won that year, wouldn't have had those dance routines.

is what Strictly is all chucking Ann across she was flying down balcony. (Laughs) I tried girlfriend across the the frozen food aisle other day, but she was not impressed. I just heard the music in the supermarket and got a bit excited.

You've appeared in every series of the BBC dance show. Can you remember your first Strictly experience in 2004? MY very first partner was Lesley Garrett. She was a revelation for me personally. She was and energetic. It new for all of us and I to her. She brought and ballroom the show.

been surprised at the success of Strictly? a surprise to me. We know what dancing is and it's a brilliant thing. I think it was a massive surprise to the BBC back when Strictly started.

After all these years, it is still the biggest show they make.

They have invested in the show and made it bigger and better. I think the launch show this year was fantastic with the video trailers for the contestants. It was very well done.

Have you ever had any bad injuries? I'VE been lucky with that side of things. I look after myself and I seem to have quite a good body in as much as it doesn't break down. There have been some great people on the show who have had backs go and knees and ankles go. I have always looked after myself over the years. …
