Demand High for Builder's Family-Friendly Homes

Article excerpt

FAMILY-run house builder is experiencing an "exceptional" response to its latest developments.

Alnwick-headquartered Cussins officially launched Fenwick Park, in Longframlington, and Morwick Gardens, in Warkworth, both in Northumberland, in September, with both developments already seeing high levels of interest.

A broad range of families and individuals from the North East and beyond have registered their interest in the new sites, with many reserving a home.

Cussins sales manager Julia Burnett said: "We're absolutely thrilled with how well the new sites are being received. We've had an exceptional response from the opening of each development, with numerous reservations being placed.

"Many people have been keen to find a home in their local community, while others want a complete lifestyle change and are moving to Northumberland so they can enjoy a better quality of life with their family.

"These are small, select developments on carefully chosen plots and we've gone to great lengths to make sure they're in keeping with their surroundings. Both will have a very traditional feel, with a village green incorporated into the design at Fenwick Park and an elegant street scene at Morwick Gardens. We can't wait until we're able to hand over the keys to our buyers and see both sites turn into real family communities."

The Government's Help to Buy initiative is having a positive impact on sales at both sites.

Julia added: "Our starter homes are priced from PS140,000 so we're finding the price, combined with the Government's policy of helping buyers into the property market with schemes such as Help to Buy, means we're experiencing high demand from first-time buyers, as well as those looking to move further up the ladder."

Using Help to Buy, purchasers only have to find a 5% deposit and source a 75% mortgage, the remaining 20% coming in the form of a Government loan which is interestfree for five years.

Cussins' new sites have also provided an employment boost for the area, with the builder taking on new sales staff to cope with the upsurge in enquiries, along with skilled tradespeople to join its longstanding workforce. …
