The Woman's Club of Fernandina Beach will hold a Halloween Game Party noon Thursday, Oct. 29, at the clubhouse, 201 Jean Lafitte Blvd. All card games, board games, dominoes and mahjongg are welcome. Participants are encouraged to bring their own cards or games. A donation of $15 per person includes lunch, dessert and snacks. DICKMAN TO CONDUCT NASSAU COMMUNITY BAND'S FALL CONCERT SERIES

University of North Florida Jazz Studies program founding member Marc Dickman will lead the Nassau Community Band as it begins its 12th season's fall series. That season includes a concert Thursday at St. Michael Parish Hall, a Veterans Tribute on Nov. 7 and a December Holiday Revue with the Amelia Musical Playhouse. New band members are welcome to come to rehearsals at 6 p.m. Thursdays at Yulee Middle School, 85439 Miner Road. HENDRY FILES FOR COUNTY COMMISSION

Gayward Hendry (right) of Green Cove Springs has filed as a candidate running for District 5 for the Clay County Commission. A Republican, he is chief inspector at the Clay County Sheriff's Office and member of the Clay County Planning Commission. The other candidate is Mickey Hall, also of Green Cove Springs. Also a Republican, Hall is a U.S. Navy veteran and developer and general contractor.

BOOK SALE JOINED BY CHICKEN DINNER SALES

Friends of the Library will be cooking at its next book sale Nov. 5-7. The Organized Firefighters of Fernandina Beach will prepare smoked chicken dinners to help raise funds for library improvements. The Book Sale kicks off 5-7 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 5, in the Peck Center Gym, 516 S. 10th St., with a members-only preview.
