I HAVE just finished my usual scan of Monday's Gazette, with my usual look at the letters page.

I was at that diabolical match on Saturday, where, yet again, our team let us all down badly, on a day when all those lads and lasses who had just lost their jobs were needing a lift of some sort. If only those players knew what it was like to work that hard for a pittance. I have to add lasses to that list, because my daughter-in-law is one of them, so it is not just males.

One of the big things from the letters page was the blame culture. Labourites will jump on the bandwagon and blame the Tories, and vice-versa. I lost my job, at a critical time for me, due to ill-health, and working for a firm that cared not one iota for someone who had spent the last 30 years with them. Instead of blaming all and sundry, I had an operation, spent the next year, at least, going to the gym and getting some fitness back again, coupled with a loss of eight and a half stone in weight, then retrained and tried for work in totally alien environments. …
