Fire to Welcome Two New Players Fire Signs Exciting Defender Hancock

FOOTBALL: The Sunshine Coast Fire's aspirations to re-emerge as a National Premier Leagues Queensland powerhouse have been significantly boosted by the impending arrival of United Kingdom duo Glody Ntumba and Connor Hancock.

Striker Ntumba is playing for the Glasgow Rangers while centre back Hancock is running around for Stockport County.

Fire technical director Melvyn Wilkes was particularly excited about Hancock who he touted him as a genuine A-League prospect.

"He has seen the A-League and the way the NPL is going over here and has got a good chance of playing in the A-League next year and will probably do a season with us, at the most," Wilkes said.

"That is what we are here for and if he can help us move forward for a season then great."

But the club's biggest signing could be former England player Kevin Davies who Wilkes rated as a 90% chance of joining the club.

The 38-year-old played almost 450 English Premier League matches and was signed by Blackburn in 1998 for $16 million. …
