IT WASN'T without a few hairy moments but Durham gymnast Amy Tinkler believes her team produced an excellent performance as they kicked off their World Championships at Glasgow's SSE Hydro Arena.

The 15-year-old finished as the team's best all-around performer on Friday as she racked up 56.466 across the four disciplines.

That left Britain in pole position with 227.162 after four sessions with Tinkler, Ruby Harrold and Ellie Downie all scoring well in the all-around.

There were a few small hiccups along the way for the Brits wi th Becky Downie suffering a fall during her uneven bars routine and Claudia Fragapane coming off the beam.

Yet all in all it was a solid start for the team as they look to secure a spot in the final with a top-eight finish and, consequently, book their ticket to Rio 2016.

Tinkler is confident they have done enough and believes hard work in practice will put them in a good place heading into next week's finals. …
