BELISARIO Agulla will be given a full season to show his worth at Newcastle Falcons after becoming the club's 12 major signing.

The 27-year-old Argentinian joins the Falcons after four years at French club Agen and having played for the Hindu club in his homeland.

The surname is already familiar to English fans by virtue of older brother Horacio, the Bath and former Leicester wing, with director of rugby Dean Richards confident Belisario can add quality as well as quantity to Newcastle's back-line roster.

"We have had quite a number of injuries in the back division and with Juan Pablo Socino being away at the World Cup it meant we were a little bit light there," said the Falcons' boss.

"One or two injuries would have left us pretty fragile in that area and Belisario is a guy who can play centre, wing or full-back."

Capped 11 times by Argentina and 11 international tries to his name, Richards says it is entirely appropriate to hand him an extended trial rather than opting for a short-term fix during the World Cup. …
