PAUL Dummett says that Newcastle United must dust themselves down and get on with the season following the 3-0 defeat to Sunderland.

The Geordie defender was left deeply disappointed after events conspired against Newcastle at the Stadium of Light.

Dummett looked ahead to the clash against Stoke City this weekend at St James' Park and wants to get the season back on track.

The Toon defender said: "It's never nice losing against Sunderland and we've got to look to next week, where we've got to stand up and go again."

Newcastle's performance in the derby was an improvement from the last five and Dummett reflected: "You could see the players wanted to win throughout.

"We never stopped - even in the 90th minute at 3-0 down we were still trying to attack and score goals.

"Unfortunately though you don't get any points for that - it's the goals that count and we didn't score any. …
