Seven Championships in a Row for Brittain; Pioneer Valley Golf Club Captain Ties Record Winning Streak

SEVEN men's club championships in a row must be some kind of record, right?

Well it is, but it's only a joint record.

Pioneer Valley Golf Club captain Peter Brittain won his seventh consecutive championship this month, he has won it from 2009-2015.

The streak ties Brittain with life member Robert Craig, who won from 1989-1995.

"It was special, especially tying with Robert Craig, who won seven in a row, back when the club was only five to 10 years old," Brittain said.

"I'm just hoping I can continue on next year because this year was a bit of a close call, I only just won it this time."

Brittain won by two strokes ahead of up-and-coming junior golfer Josh Scullie, 16.

"It's good that I had more competition this year, I definitely had to concentrate," he said.

The competition was held across 72 holes and two weekends.

Both Brittain and Scullie had their moments, Scullie was leading after two rounds, but a 78 in the final round was what cost him the win. …
