Surf Clubs Are a Major Part of Our Beach Lives

EIMEO Surf Lifesaving Club president Bill Lansbury has been a member of the surf lifesaving club for a decade.

Moving from Roma to Mackay, Lansbury said the best thing about a surf lifesaving club was to see his kids grow up learning surf skills.

"Just to see their progression and learning the skills was great," he said.

Before arriving at Eimeo, Bill's children had never experienced the beach having grown up in the country.

"There was not much call for surf lifesaving in Roma," he said.

"It has been a great experience seeing them progress from green caps through to cadets."

Right now members of the club were preparing for the North Aussie titles in Mackay this weekend.

"We are always looking forward to the North Aussie titles and we are always pretty well represented," he said.

A good performance in the North Aussie titles will see competitors head to the state titles. …
