PRESTON North End inflicted Newcastle United's heaviest defeat since February 2014 with a convincing 5-0 victory at Coach Lane, writes STUART DICK.

Lagan Makin scored twice for the visitors, Yasmine Swarbrick, Danielle Young and Chelsea Flanagan netting the others on a forgettable afternoon for the Lady Mags.

Manager Thomas Butler said: "We had harsh words for the girls afterwards.

"We are just naive at times and our decisionmaking was poor.

"If you look at their goals, Preston are a very efficient side all over the pitch and they were clinical in front of goal.

"Mentally, if we concede one or two goals our heads are dropping for some reason and in competitive football you cannot allow that to happen."

The visitors took the lead on 11 minutes.
