THE DRESSER BBC2, 9pm Anthony Hopkins and Ian McKellen are joining forces for this new adaptation of Ronald Harwood's The Dresser. The muchloved play, which was previously filmed in 1983 with Albert Finney and Tom Courteney, is set in a small regional theatre during the Second World War, where the curtain is due to go up on a production of King Lear.

Bombs are dropping and sirens are wailing, but the show will go on - if only someone can find the touring troupe's manager, known as Sir (Hopkins), who is supposed to be playing the lead role.
