Tottenham Can Emerge as Big Winners from Chaos at the Bridge

THE inevitable fascination with Jose Mourinho and his plight tends to ignore its meaning for other ambitious clubs.

However disturbing Chelsea's extraordinary plummet may be for Mourinho's former devotees those on the Stamford Bridge slopes as well as those on the pitch there's an excitement about a top-four place being up for grabs. And nowhere more, surely, than at White Hart Lane. Who would have believed it a couple of years ago? Chelsea the club Tottenham fans cursed for denying them a Champions League place when the Blues won it in 2012 apparently out of contention, quietly relieved there are teams as poorly equipped as Sunderland and Aston Villa in the places below. It's David Moyes's Manchester United all over again, only worse.

When United hit their slump, took their year out of the Champions League, it was Liverpool who profited with a brief return to the big time. They will fancy their chances again now Jurgen Klopp is into his stride, even if the win at Stamford Bridge may have flattered them slightly. …
