Bartley Guilty of Two Assaults

EMERALD: Tyson Joseph Bartley will be sentenced tomorrow for two violent attacks that left one victim with a fractured skull and bleeding on the brain and the other hospitalised.

Bartley, 23, yesterday pleaded guilty to two counts of assault occasioning bodily harm and one of public nuisance.

Police prosecutor Sergeant Kevin Ongheen told the Emerald Magistrates Court when police turned up at Bartley's house to question him about the attacks he said he was expecting them because "you can't belt someone on the street anymore and not get into strife".

Sgt Ongheen said the first attack happened in the early hours of August 15 when Bartley punched a man in the face near the rear entrance to the Irish Village Hotel. He said the victim fell backwards and hit his head on concrete.

The man was taken to Emerald Hospital before being airlifted to Royal Brisbane Hospital with a fractured skull and bleeding on the brain. …
