Evers 'Gets It Done' in Yellow; Time Trial Specialist on Fast Track to World Tour: Pilley

CYCLING: CRAIG Evers further cemented his status as one of Australia's emerging cycling talents with a star showing at the Tour of Borneo in Malaysia.

The 25-year-old from Grafton, whose motto is "getting it done", won the opening time trial stage before successfully defending the yellow jersey for the next two days. Evers remained in 10th, with his team, Data #3 Symantec Racing, holding first spot on the teams classification heading into yesterday's fifth and final stage.

Evers, who competed in the Tour of Poyang Lake in China in September, won the 27.2km time trial by more than a minute in a time of 36 minutes 35 seconds in hot and windy conditions.

"It is very, very hot here compared to Canberra, even during the warm-up I was sweating buckets," Evers said.

"I was struggling with the wind towards the end of the race. Obviously everyone faced the same thing, this is the nature of the individual time trial. …
