AUSSIE RULES: After four years with the North Mackay Saints, Craig Horwood is hanging up the boots.

With his son Max still playing for the under-17s, Horwood will still try to stay involved with the club.

However work commitments has forced him to step down as coach.

The former coach ranks meeting new people and developing young players as some of his fondest of memories at the club.

"I love to help the development of the younger guys," Horwood said "It's great to see them make it to seniors."

Growth in AFL Mackay was still necessary and Harwood called for more focus on juniors.

"There has been an increase in numbers but there needs to be emphasis on junior development," he said.

Horwood admitted he would miss coaching despite the challenges and the time it consumed and urged the club to find a replacement as soon as possible. …
