THE Heart Collectors have been spending a lot of their time in the US.

Earlier this year, the Tyalgum-based indie-folk group recorded their second album in Austin, Texas.

The album, aptly named Listen, is a hauntingly beautiful collection of harmonies featuring the cello, banjo and guitar.

Now the band is working to reconnect with home soil through their wistful performances of 70s and 80s-inspired folk.

Vocalist, cellist and bassist Mobius Barnaby said they'd been playing a lot of market gigs.

"It's happy, family-oriented music and it's fun to watch," he said.

"We fit really well into that market scene."

Tonight, the band hopes that exposure pays off, when they perform a live set at The Treehouse in Byron Bay.

It's the band's first show there but Barnaby hopes to pull in a good crowd. …
