BEACHES DEMOCRATIC CLUB 'SOUP KITCHEN' FUNDRAISER

Beaches Democratic Club hosts a "Soup Kitchen" fundraiser to meet representatives of Duval County and Beaches area programs that assist the poor. Servings of soup and corn muffins begin at 6:30 p.m. with meeting beginning at 7 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 17, at Neptune Beach Senior Activity Center, 2004 Forest Ave. A minimum donation of $5 is suggested for a bowl of soup, and will go to Beaches Emergency Assistance Ministry. Attendees are also asked to bring one or more non-perishable food items for the local food bank pantry. VETERANS HONORED WITH VETERANS SPECIAL RECOGNITION MEDALS

Congressman Ander Crenshaw formally recognized 87 veterans Monday, Nov. 9, with Fourth Congressional District Veterans Special Recognition Medals. Medals are given to honor veterans who have served the United States from World War II to Operation Desert Storm.

Friends of the Green Cove Springs Library announce a Stress Free Holiday Cooking Class on Saturday, Nov. 14, 10:30 to 11:30 a.m. in the Library Meeting Room, 403 Ferris St., Green Cove Springs. Award-winning cookbook author Chef Warren Caterson will share tips on how to enjoy entertaining during the holidays without spending all of your time in the kitchen.
