Courts Hear of Five-Hour Chase; Kandanga-to-Brisbane Drama Alleged

AN ALLEGED teenage burglary gang led police on a 175km chase from Kandanga to Mt Gravatt on Thursday night.

Four of the five alleged gang members are children, two of them 14, one 15 and another 16.

The fifth, a still unidentified 18-year-old, was due to appear yesterday in Pine Rivers Magistrates Court.

Police said the incident, which began at Kandanga at 3.45pm, had finished in the south-east Brisbane suburb of Mackenzie about five hours later.

Those alleged to have been involved are all male, according to police statements on the case.

All five of the alleged gang members were due to appear in courts in Gympie and Pine Rivers yesterday on a range of charges, including burglary and unlawful use of a motor vehicle.

The 15-year-old, accused of driving a 4WD stolen from a Kandanga Creek Rd property, was charged with 22 offences, including burglary and unlawful use.

He was arrested after abandoning the vehicle in Sankeys Rd, Federal. …
