Ideas for Disused Transit Centre?

Article excerpt

MAYOR Paul Pisasale has urged the state government to look at gifting the disused Ipswich Transit Centre on Bell Street to the city to be included in the CBD's redevelopment plans. What would you like to see built in its place?

John Coppin - Well that's one thing the CBD needs in their redevelopment plan - a new bus terminal and one that doesn't flood. The old terminal needs something because it is an eye sore and not a very nice look for our little town.

Julie Ness - Definitely re-establish the old Transit Centre. It did flood there. Lots of people still travel by bus. How is that any different to spending lots of money on Colleges Crossing when it floods too.

Paul Smart - Why not make it a bus depot, but council will build another multistorey empty building there filled with more coffee shops.

Steven Carmichael - Well as it says in the article my company is currently making use of it so to say it is not worth anything to anyone is wrong. It is our hopes to continue our reshaping of the site to an arts development centre.

Jennifer Haslam - Makes no difference what we would like to see there. Council will make the decision based on their pockets! Justin Barrett - Somewhere to put Paul Pisalale's ego and all the coffee cups or whatever he collects and charge it to the ratepayers of Ipswich!

Jacky Jones-Barnes - A massive free parking lot to encourage people back into CBD?

Robyn Hardiker - Parking, it is a major pain when you have someone who cannot walk very far, and all the parks in front of the doctors are gone. This would help a tad.

Jess Pomerenke - A parking lot would only turn to a paid parking like they have just done to the underground parking. …
