Jack Hanwell, manufacturing sector development manager for the AMF, said: "The AMF advises and informs manufacturers on all aspects of innovation, skills, and productivity. Since its formation back in 2006, AMF has consistently engaged with its members, and the manufacturing community generally, to support them in every way it can.

"This has manifested itself in a number of ways, not least in the volume and quality of high profile speakers it has managed to attract this year.

"Businesses can benefit by coming on board with us. We act in direct response to business needs, and the issues that affect our members are the issues that we tackle directly. We put on events our members care about, and will get benefit from."

The most well-attended monthly AMF event was held earlier this year, when the BBC's business reporter Steph McGovern spoke to more than 100 delegates on the themes of skills, and investing in apprentices.

Innovation featured high on the AMF agenda throughout the year, with contributions from Osbit's Dr Tony Trapp, the Bank of England, University of Sunderland and Growth Accelerator.

The theme will be continued in December when the High Value Manufacturing Catapult and ORE Catapult share the stage to give an in-depth explanation of what they have achieved in the region.

AMF chairman Ian Fawdon said: "Our manufacturers need support, whether it's through funding or expert help in ensuring the appropriate processes are being adhered to.

"Being innovative and productive is vital to the continued growth of the North East's manufacturing industry and will ensure we remain globally competitive and at the forefront of developments. …
