HEALTH Minister Cameron Dick says the long-awaited Gympie Hospital Master Plan, intended to address serious operational and structural problems, has not been released because it does not yet exist.

It is now more than a year since then-Gympie MP David Gibson slammed his own party's neglect of Gympie Hospital, declaring it to be terminally ill and dangerously overworked.

He said concrete cancer in one building was so serious it was a threat to public safety.

And the hospital Master Plan had even then been in preparation for two-and-a-half years.

But despite the urgency of buildings not maintained and in some cases beyond repair, Mr Dick this week revealed that the Master Plan is still unfinished.

He was responding to questions from MP Tony Perrett, who says he has received the same fob-off answers three times.

In May, three months after the plan was due for release, Mr Dick in May told state parliament "the Sunshine Coast Hospital and Health Service is working with the Department of Health to finalise the Master Plan for the Gympie Hospital's infrastructure and identify funding in the context of state-wide priority needs. …
