BEFORE my time comes I'm gonna leave some sign that I was here... won't be what I own, a fancy home, a car or my career...

If I've lived and loved too hard I've made good use of my time, I'll make the world a better place with the love I leave behind.

Touched by Sheldon Gakowski's story in the Daily Mercury, country music legend Graeme Connors sent him a birthday card like thousands of others, along with a CD.

"Graeme sent him the CD with a note saying 'sometimes songs say everything you need to hear'," Sheldon's wife Suzanne said. "When the song came on in the car Sheldon just started crying and said 'that's the funeral song... that's the song you need to play'.

"I think Graeme and Lyn were just really impacted by the story and emotion of it and the bravery this man faced."

Mrs Gakowski said there was one other celebrity cheer squad she'd like to thank -- and that was the Cowboys rugby league team. …
