IT'S the massage story with a very happy ending.

When Bellmere resident Karen Gibb came for a visit to Currimundi to see close friend Wendy Webb, the last thing she thought she'd be doing was tearing her hair out thinking she'd lost an irreplaceable heirloom.

That's exactly what happened though when the pair went for a relaxing massage at Honest Thai Massage in Currimundi.

Having returned home in a state of relaxation, Karen realised with horror her chain was missing.

It's not just any chain, it was her grandfather's old fobwatch chain from 1914, from the First World War, each link marked with a 9ct print.

"We went into a bit of a panic," Wendy recalled.

"That chain is worth a fortune."

Karen was beside herself, unable to get to sleep for fear of having lost the treasured family keepsake.

"It never comes off from around my neck normally," Karen said.

"I'd be devastated if I lost it, you'd never replace it. …
