TOP FILMS OF THE WEEK EASY A (Tonight, Channel 4, 12.15am) EMMA STONE gives a star-making performance as Olive, a high-school misfit who lies to her best friend that she lost her virginity to a college student. Before she knows it, the story has gone round the school, and Olive finds she quite likes the attention. So, when a bullied classmate asks her to stop the speculation about his sexuality by pretending she's slept with him as well, she doesn't see the harm. It's a sharp teen comedy that even finds decent roles for grown-ups Thomas Haden Church, Lisa Kudrow, and Patricia Clarkson.

Despite being a princess, teenage mermaid Ariel is bored of life beneath the waves, and is obsessed with humans in general - and one handsome prince in particular.

The Little Mermaid The sea witch Ursula offers her the chance to swap her tail for a pair of legs and live on land, but the transformation comes at a price. Jodi Benson, Christopher Daniel Barnes and Rene Auberjonois provide the voices, while the great songs include the incredibly catchy Under the Sea.

However, while she may be able to overlook adultery, lying is a different matter, and when she discovers her lover hasn't been completely honest with her, their affair is thrown into doubt. Experienced charmers Cary Grant and Ingrid Bergman star.
