DID you sharpen your elbows and go shopping on Black Friday? Did you get comfy on the couch for Cyber Monday? Or are you one of the many cynics who believe it's all a big con, an unwelcome American import of whom the only winners are the shops and websites who participated (not to mention the car parks and couriers who benefited!)? I'm a little bit in between you all, having worked in and around retail/e-tail for a decade. I agree it's a ploy to get you to spend, but a ploy can't force your hand, it's a mere invitation.

No interest? No problem. No one is marching you to the tills. On the flip side, it's just under a month until the big day, pretty much everyone is Christmas shopping anyway so why not benefit from a little discount? If you're clever you can save money on the things you planned to buy anyway? As for jostling in the aisles or fighting over 3D TVs I agree that's ludicrous, mindless consumerism.
