A FORMER banking lawyer who entered a woman's bedroom wearing fishnet stockings and a purple G-string told a court he thought she was a giant panda.

Desmond Moran, 53, slipped into the victim's flat in Bayswater as she slept in bed with her young children, the jury heard. She woke to find him staring at her and watched in terror as he crossed the room to stare out of the window, it is claimed. When she saw his bizarre outfit, she screamed, alerting her son and daughter, aged eight and seven.

But jurors at Southwark crown court suppressed laughter as they were shown the stockings and G-string.

Moran denies trespassing with intent to commit a sexual offence. At the time he had been high on crack cocaine and crystal meth and had been sleeping rough for several years, the court heard.

In his police interview he claimed he was trying to find a bed for the night, adding: "I honestly didn't see a woman, I didn't see any children, I honestly thought it was a big panda bear in the bed, that's what it looked like to me. …
