Sharp Gators Roll Past Richmond; Florida Dominates on Boards in Win over Spiders

GAINESVILLE | The Gators finally put together an entire game of basketball.

In a contest many expected to be close, Florida blew out Richmond 76-56, combining a solid shooting night with a suffocating defensive effort.

In a game during which they never trailed, the Gators (6-1) held the Spiders (4-3) to 34 percent from the field and limited second-chance opportunities, allowing just six second-chance points while scoring 23 of their own.

They also outrebounded the Spiders 57-36, and three players - forwards Dorian Finney-Smith and Devin Robinson and center John Egbunu - recorded 13 rebounds or more, becoming just the third major conference team in the last 20 seasons to accomplish the feat.

Gators coach Mike White said the team is starting to realize its potential in that area.

"I hadn't been a part of a team like this that's as talented on the glass as we are," White said.

Eleven Gators scored in the game, led by Egbunu, who posted 17 points and 14 rebounds. …
