CRICKET: Coutts Crossing managed to hold its nerve and survive a late charge from South Services in a thrilling finish to their premier league clash at Ellem Oval on Saturday.

Needing 12 off the last over of the match, South Services fell agonisingly close, just two runs short of victory.

South Services captain Chris Cleaver said there were a few nervous players watching on from the boundary.

"We needed a six, and Josh (Amos) hit a one bounce four off the last ball," Cleaver said.

"It was a bit disappointing to come close but lose by that much, but we've got to look at the positives," he said.

Opener Luke Sullivan set the tone early with a quick-fire 38, and Dylan Cleaver showed maturity beyond his years, top- scoring for his side with 47.

Chris Cleaver was quick to praise the youngster for his efforts.

"It was really good to see Dylan get a score under his belt," he said.

"He knew exactly what to do out there, which was great to see. …
