Street Fight Dead Man Fell from Car Bonnet; Man in Court Accused of Unlawfully Killing Kyle Watkins

THE man accused of the manslaughter of Ulmarra's Kyle Watkins remains in custody after his matters were mentioned before Coffs Harbour Local Court yesterday. Coffs Harbour man Tyson Egan, 24, is accused of the unlawful killing of Mr Watkins, 26, following an alleged one-punch attack in Coffs Harbour's CBD in October.

Police say Mr Watkins had travelled from his home to Coffs Harbour on October 3 to celebrate a birthday with a group of friends, including Mr Egan.

About 9.30pm, the group attended the Coffs Hotel where a man, who was known to Mr Watkins, arrived after driving Mr Watkins' girlfriend to Coffs Harbour from Grafton.

The court heard Mr Watkins left the hotel to speak with his girlfriend, who was inside a parked car outside the hotel.

The court was told Mr Watkins became aggressive and followed the car on foot onto West High St where he later jumped onto the bonnet and kicked the front windscreen. …
