Four-Year Ban for Crash Driver

A 49-YEAR-OLD man who crashed his car while driving disqualified and with marijuana and alcohol in his system has been taken off the road for more than four years.

Police called to a single vehicle crash on the Felton-Clifton Rd at Nobby about 8pm, November 11, last year, found the driver, Trevor Samuel Johnston, being attended to by ambulance paramedics.

Having sustained significant injuries in the crash, Johnston was taken to hospital, Toowoomba Magistrates Court heard.

However during police checks of his driving record, it was found he had been disqualified from driving for six months by the Warwick Magistrates Court just four months earlier and that he was subject to the interlock provisions but the Nissan Navara he was driving did not have an interlock attached.

Police prosecutor Sergeant Mike Robinson said Johnston had blown a breath/alcohol reading of 0.105 at the crash scene and subsequent blood samples taken from him at the hospital were analysed and found he had traces of marijuana in his system. …
