"A CURE for cancer."

As far as Christmas wishes go, Kristie Burns knows hers is a big one.

However, she remains unshaken in her belief that one day children across the globe will not have to endure the same agony her little boy did.

Rockhampton four-year-old Zane Brown was diagnosed in May 2014 with neuroblastoma - a childhood tumour that appears in the adrenal gland.

After a bone marrow transplant and gruelling sessions of chemotherapy, immunotherapy and radiotherapy, the little chap is finally on the road to recovery.

"For months we were told Zane had gastro and in time would get better," Ms Burns said.

"The day we found out about the tumour was heart-breaking.

"It felt like it wasn't real - it was all a dream."

Zane is in remission but the cancer has left its mark on his little body.

"Zane will have hearing aids for the rest of his life, won't be able to have kids and only has one kidney," Ms Burns said. …
