A MOUNTING death toll has failed to halt the wave of attacks on Israelis by Palestinians prepared to pay with their lives.

In the latest incidents, a Palestinian was shot dead by Israeli soldiers on Saturday after allegedly attempting to ram troops manning a checkpoint south of Nablus.

One soldier was wounded in the leg.

Earlier in the day, police shot dead a 26-year-old Palestinian man in Jerusalem's Tzahal Square after he charged two officers with a knife.

Last Friday, a female Palestinian driver was shot and killed by police near the West Bank village of Silwad.

A police statement said the woman accelerated directly at police before being shot by one of the officers.

The day before, a Palestinian who stabbed two security guards at the West Bank Jewish settlement of Ariel was shot dead.

The same fate awaited a Palestinian who tried to attack soldiers with a screwdriver at a checkpoint near the West Bank city of Hebron later in the day. …
