Have a long home losing streak? Or a rookie quarterback looking for a confidence boost? Maybe a six-game losing streak and the vultures are circling your football team? You want to play the Jaguars in all of those situations. When the book on this season is closed, likely in two weeks, the Jaguars will look back at several losses in which they were streak breakers. Not showing up in the first half of a Week 5 loss at Tampa Bay and losing to rookie Jameis Winston, which snapped the Buccaneers' 11-game home losing streak. Providing little resistance in Week 12 against a San Diego team that had lost six in a row. Allowing rookie Marcus Mariota to score on an 87-yard scramble to give the Titans their first home win of the year. And then there was Sunday.


In the last four games, the Jaguars fell behind in the first half 21-9, 14-6, 13-3 and 17-3. There just isn't a sense of urgency by the Jaguars, particularly on offense, coming out of the gates. Their first-quarter offensive struggles are well-documented (35 points in 14 first quarters), but on defense, Atlanta's offense made it look easy on the opening drive (touchdown) and on a late second-quarter drive (touchdown). The first came on a series of Matt Ryan pitch-and-catches, the second featured a running game to both perimeters. The Jaguars aren't good enough to consistently win games when they're in chase mode.


The Jaguars' special teams were bad and it had nothing to do with kicker Jason Myers. Let's point the fingers. Punt returner Rashad Greene: Let one punt roll 22 yards to the Jaguars' 3 instead of scooping it up and made a fair catch at his 8-yard line. Blocker Clay Harbor: Called for a penalty that negated a 20-yard Greene return. Punter Bryan Anger: His first three kicks were 38, 32 and 21 net yards. …
