IT'S a new year, and it should be a big one on the Sunshine Coast sports scene. In fact, 2016 is set to be the most exciting year in recent memory when it comes to hosting major events. The highlight should be The Aussies (the Australian Surf Life Saving Championship) at Maroochydore, Mooloolaba and Alexandra Headland in April. But we will also boast an NRL trial between Melbourne and Wests next month, the Mooloolaba Triathlon in March, the World Outrigger Championships in May, the Sunshine Coast Marathon in August, the Ironman 70.3 World Championship in September and the Noosa Triathlon in October. And that's just a handful of the big events to be showcased here. Bring it on.
