Big Bash Given Thumbs Up as Popularity Skyrockets

T20 CRICKET: The 2015/16 Big Bash League has drawn record crowds as its excitement factor, shorter game duration and competitive contests appeal to a wider fanbase.

On Saturday night 80,883 attended the MCG for the Melbourne derby between Stars and Rendegades. It smashed the previous Big Bash League attendance record by 28,250 and even threatened to nudge the world record crowd of 93,013 who watched Australia defeat New Zealand in the (ODI) World Cup final.

And its wave of popularity is being felt here in the Clarence Valley, with many local fans spotted among the 27,507 who attended the match at the Gabba on Sunday between Brisbane Heat and Sydney Thunder.

For imstance, there were at least four touring parties from Coutts Crossing Cricket Club alone, as Andrew McLachlan, Adam Elliott, Mal Tilse and Ryan Atkins all made separate excursions to the game.
