JUST like the weather in Bundaberg on Wednesday, the local teams in the under-15 cricket development carnival had a bright day as they recorded victories in the second round of the competition.

After play was abandoned on Tuesday with rain on Monday night, players were greeted with warm and humid conditions as they moved to Kendall Flats to play on synthetic pitches.

The change in scenery did the local teams no harm as the round two catch-up matches were taken out by both Bundaberg teams with Wide Bay also defeating the Gold Coast.

With matches reduced to just 30 overs to make up for lost time, and get teams playing twice during the day, Bundaberg Maroon batted first as they took on South East Queensland.

After making 43 in Monday's match against Darling Downs, Tom Kidd stepped up again as he made 41 in a man-of-the-match performance to guide the Maroons to 182.

Early on 26 from Jake McCall gave Bundaberg a good start to be 1-50 after 11 overs.

Middle order wickets allowed SEQ to come back but they couldn't prevent the Maroons from making a competitive total.

Tom Briskey for the visitors took 3-35 with Hayden Jones taking 2-22. …
