AN ESTATE agent worker is accused of stealing nearly PS400,000 from her employer over a decade.

Angela Clift was in the dock charged with syphoning off the cash from her bosses at Keith Pattinson Estate Agents between 2005 and 2015.

The 47-year-old appeared for a brief hearing at Newcastle Magistrates' Court, where she entered no plea to one count of theft by employee.

Clare Irving, prosecuting, said Clift was accused of stealing PS397,896.38 from Keith Pattinson Estate Agents on Ridley Place, in Newcastle city centre, over a 10-year period.

She said, due to the alleged amount taken, the case was so serious it should be dealt with at Newcastle Crown Court.

Ms Irving said: "You're aware of the amount, you're aware of the period of time the theft is alleged to have happened.

"As a result, the matter isn't suitable for this court.

"She's got high culpability and there's a high degree of trust involved. …
