TAKING an Antarctic dip in a bikini might sound crazy but it's the sanest idea Cassie Maher says she's had in ages.

Last year, Cassie was shocked to learn her friend and skilled Oztag player Holly Bryant, 33, had brain cancer. Holly died just months later.

"It's hard because she didn't tell many people except for her very close friends and family," Cassie said.

"She still played at state level but even the coach didn't know how sick she was. Two months later she died.

"It's hard to think, she's such a strong and inspirational person, to go through all that and not really let anyone know."

Cassie started reading about the disease and found out it claimed the lives of two out of 10 sufferers within five years and kills more children in Australia than any other disease - statistics she found "totally shocking".

She decided to do something to help the Cure Brain Cancer foundation and set up a Facebook event - Antarctic Plunge for Brain Cancer - which has so far raised $1500. …
