Burnley Tie Will Demand the Best of Us: Karanka

MIDDLESBROUGH manager Aitor Karanka has vowed he will aim to send out his strongest side when the Sky Bet Championship leaders host Burnley in the FA Cup third round.

With both teams mounting a sustained bid for promotion to the riches of the Barclays Premier League, the upcoming Championship fixtures coming up in the middle of next week could be seen as a priority.

Karanka, though, claims his only thoughts are of selecting a team capable of getting past the Clarets, who are fifth in the table, to secure a place in the fourth-round draw.

"I have to think because we have 23 players always ready to play. We have three games [in this] next week, but the main aim is always on Saturday and I have to try to win that game, so I will try to put the strongest team on the pitch," Karanka said on Middlesbrough's official club website.

"I want to win every game and I don't think the academy players are ready to play in these games, but they have bright futures in front of them.

"I know most of the players in the academy and I know they can play at a high level, but I have to think about winning the game on Saturday and I have to respect the players who are in the first team.

"All of those players deserve to play and be in the squad and they all deserve to be in this moment together."

Burnley boss Sean Dyche, however, accepts he may well have little option but to rotate, with the team set for back-to-back away games next week, at MK Dons on Tuesday and then Brentford on Friday night.

"There is a lot of travelling and it does crunch down the rest periods in between games, so we have to choose a team that we think can win, but also one according to the challenge of playing three games in a short space of time," he told his club's offi-cial website.

"That said, we will still put out a team that we believe, 100%, can win a football match because that's a massive part of what we do here." Two other sides who are in the Championship promotion mix meet at the KC Stadium, where thirdplaced Hull host Brighton, who are fourth. …
