Swifts Keen to Build on Winning Form

SWIFTS showed no remorse in their bid to strike down the Thunder in their one-day game at Tivoli on Saturday.

The Swifts defeated the home side by eight wickets, chasing down the Thunder's paltry total of 105 in 16 overs to earn a double bonus point.

It was the Bluebirds' first win in the Ipswich and West Moreton Cricket Association first division since October 31 and just their second of the summer.

"It was an important win because we need to win every game until the end of the season to have any chance of making the finals," Swifts stand-in skipper Cameron Wood said.

"If we play the way we did on Saturday then we can beat any team in the competition, but the trick is we must continue to play like that."

Still smarting from their loss to the Eastern Taipans before the Christmas break, the Swifts played like a team with something to prove.

Wood led the way with both bat and ball, grabbing 4-17 and blasting an unbeaten 61 off less than 35 deliveries. …
