'Hurting' Fans Deserve Result over Red Devils

GEORGINIO Wijnaldum understands exactly why Newcastle United supporters are "hurting" - and insists the Magpies must give them something back against Manchester United.

It was the Dutchman's uncharacteristic mistake which allowed Troy Deeney to score what proved to be an ultimately decisive goal as United were knocked out of the FA Cup against Watford on Saturday. A fourth-straight 1-0 defeat led to fans chanting their displeasure from the stands - including "We want our money back" - and top-scorer Wijnaldum emphathises with the travelling Toon Army.

Newcastle are languishing in the Premier League relegation zone and Dutch international Wijnaldum knows it is crucial they give the supporters something to shout about against the Red Devils at St James' Park.

"Yes, of course (we understand the fans' frustration)," the 25-year-old said. "We saw how much the supporters were hurting (at Watford). How I see it is that they want something back, and that is normal. …
